Overview:

Oversees the music library of a CRTC licensed campus and community radio station.  Under the direction of the Station Manager, oversees the receivership and review process of new music and actively recruits materials from local artists.  Creates playlists, charts, rotation, and DJ recommendations to support the programming of the stations. Oversees the day-to-day programming of a CRTC licensed campus and community radio station.

 Duties

  • Coordinates the receiving and reviewing of new music materials

  • Actively recruits materials from local music scene

  • Creates playlist, charts, and rotation, and DJ recommendations

  • Develops rotation playlists for after hours operations

  • Maintains accurate records, communications, and reporting as required

  • Assigns, allocates work, and oversees staff and volunteers engaged in station operations; performs recruitment, training, scheduling, retention, and human resource management

  • May provide support services for Station Manager, Program Director, on-air staff, etc. as necessary

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to recruit, retain, and manage volunteers for campus and community radio environment

  • Ability to review and evaluate programming to meet station priorities

  • Ability to build creative and inclusive programming.

  • Ability to supervise and train employees and volunteers

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency

  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer literacy, social media, inclusion, and volunteerism

  • Demonstrated music knowledge as it pertains to campus and community radio

  • Knowledge of campus and community radio is considered an asset

  • Must be legally able to work in Canada

  • Preference given to members of the Cape Breton University Students’ Union
